What young boy wouldn’t love digging through a ravine with his folks to dig out dead skulls and look for buried treasure? More than a dozen people came out to help clear over a decade of debris to include Christmas trees, old bikes, a discarded pool table and well, a future family of chickens.

Our thanks go out to He-MAN Landscaping services for their huge donation of equipment and labor. They sent in a crew of four men to help us carry out a ton (pehaps literally!) of dead wood that was stacked on both sides of the gulch entrance. They made quick work of nearly half dozen discarded Christmas pines, wooden construction remnants discarded for lost, and fresh cut kiawe and haole koa that needed to be cleared to allowe for access in case of fire or flood.
Thanks also go out to Maui Snorkel Charters for providing free spandex shirts (so nice we didn’t want to snag them in the ravine) to all volunteers as well as a free snorkel trip Awesome. After a hot day doing landscaping, the water sounds like such a treat!
So what’s next? Time to celebrate! Come on down and thank the volunteers tonight at Shaka Pizza on South Kihei Road between 6pm and 8pm. They are giving our group 10% off on pizza, and volunteers get to eat free!
